(played 13th Feb 2016)
On Saturday our U13 team hosted Palmerston North Intermediate School (PINS). Batting first we got off to a slow start but two of our most experienced players got together and batted well together. Callum Kennet, 42 Not Out, and Alec Strydom, 40 Not Out, got us through to 153/3 in our allotted 25 overs. Hemish Patel also contributed with 22 runs.
After a very good start with the ball our opposition were 10/2 after the first 6 overs, due to some ...Read Full Post »

LOB went in with a weaker than usual team this week, but still a strong team on paper. Keegan won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket the looked like a road with plenty of runs. Unfortunately, wickets fell at regular intervals as Kapiti took control with good line and length bowling. Jacob O'Brien was the pick of the batsmen scoring a patient 39 and holding us out from an overly embarrassing score. Rebels all out for 145.Read Full Post »

The Rebels wanted to have a bat first today and put on a solid total, but of course lost the toss and had to bowl.
With a handful of regular Rebels players unavailable we had a few players fill in, so thanks to Tyler Hodge, Richard Brown, and Fraser Bartholomew for helping out. The Rebels had another good start as Jason Bary and Fraser Bartholomew started strong with the ball and applied early pressure, each picking up one of the opene...Read Full Post »

This is the match report. When a game is that short it doesn't require a full match report.
Keegan Maclachlan won the toss and put PCC into bat. It proved to be the right decision with PCC rolled 81 all out. Some bad batting to some good bowling. Congratulations to Ben Watson for his second 5 wicket bag of the season. Everyone else had some good overs also. PCC 81 for 10 off 27.2 overs.
Brent Tucker 2-18 ...Read Full Post »

So the Rebels had an away game down in Kapiti to hold on to the top of the table spot. We were struggling for numbers up until Friday night but managed to scrape together a team. The Rebels won the toss and elected to bowl on a green deck. Brent Tucker opened the bowling and did what he does best, find the right lines and string together a lot of dots. Lance Van de Vyver came on at the other end and it seemed as if he had never left: hooping in swingers causing all sorts of problems for...Read Full Post »

What a day it was yesterday! Knowing that we needed to win both games to make the final was a demanding task and that we had to beat the unbeaten Kapiti side in our first game to have a decent chance.
The plan had been to turn up early, ease into the game and get into our work..... Nah, running around like mad men, 4 of us trying to pull on our strip as we turn up late going out to field, Kapiti looking like a well drilled team that been doing warm-ups...Read Full Post »

So going into the game we had lacked energy and momentum in the first round of 20/20's. The team received a boost with some of the more experienced campaigners returning for a bash, and it worked well for our first game.
Batting first the Rebels put on an outstanding 210 for 5 off our 20 overs with some fantastic batting off PCC's poor length bowling. Isaac Benefield (26) and Carlin McGill (39) got the team off to a fast start before pram struck with 2 quick...Read Full Post »

Saturday saw the A's up against Weraroa in an unofficial semi-final match . The winner to face Kapiti that same afternoon for the T20 Cup. LOB won the toss and batted. The first few overs were not how we had planed to start the innings losing Dion and Tubbs for 0 in the 2nd over. Jamie (16) and Nick Putt consolidated after the bad start. Putty was joined by Bailey after Jamie and Jarrod (8) fell and they innings really turned around, quickly. Bailey couldn't seem to mistime a ball as he raced...Read Full Post »

LOB played against a very strong Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School this weekend and were well beaten. Batting first PNINS achieved 110 runs for 7 wickets down, with the best bowlers being Stasson Bennett with 2 - 15 off 5 overs and Alec Strydom with 1 – 12 off 4 overs.
Batting second the team never really looked like threatening the score. Some poor shot selection and some great bowling eventually saw LOB all out for 57. The top scorer for LOB was Callum Ken...Read Full Post »

The college team had a rough start to the season this year by narrowly losing the few first few games but came into this game knowing that they had the potential to knock over any team on their day. The team headed down to Kena Kena park to play against the table topping Paraparaumu.
Taking off the covers to discover that the pitch looked like a muddy backyard the teams ended up going to Te Atiawa to play on a artificial. Winning the toss LOB choose to bat first and looked ...Read Full Post »
